Apple held a WWDC2022 event and well...it's time to get excited again!!

Yesterday, Apple kicked off it's annual WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) with a rousing keynote that highlighted everything from new software features to new hardware. Power nerds like me are hyped, and rightfully so...there's a lot to be hyped about if you are any kind of user that utilizes the Apple ecosystem in your day to day lives. Let's dig in to several of the new, exciting features coming to your iPhones and iPads and Macs this Fall.

⭐️ iOS 16 ⭐️

iOS 16 was surely the star of the show at WWDC2022, as the annual iPhone software update is every year at this event. Features, we got new features folks!

  • Lock Screen personalization. Wait till you see how you can trick out your lock screen. We won't ever need to get to our home screen and App icons ever again!! Take your phone out of your pocket, press to wake and pow! There's everything you need to exist on the planet...all on your lock screen.

  • Focus Filters lets you select the apps and people you want to receive notifications from by either allowing them or silencing them. You can filter out distracting content.

  • iCloud Shared Photo Library lets you easily share photos and albums with friends and family members in new ways.

  • Messages. You can now edit a message you just sent or unsend a recent message altogether. This will eliminate the need to resend a corrected typo, or even "HOLY SH*T I didn't just send that??!!!" moments...not that any of us have those moments. It's nice to know we can now properly edit our Messages.

  • Mail. Undo Send, Schedule Send, Follow Up, and add Rich Links are some of the new features.

  • THERE'S JUST SO MUCH MORE with enhancements to Safari, Passkeys, Security, Live Text, Siri, Dictation, Typing on the Keyboard, Maps, Apple Pay & Wallet, Health, Home, Family Sharing, CarPlay and did I mention MUCH MORE!!

⭐️ macOS 13 Ventura ⭐️

Can we PLEASE get a new macOS naming convention?!!? We've had exotic cats, cool Cali locations, and now I propose...Breweries! Imagine, macOS 15 Treehouse. Or macOS 15 Wormtown.

  • System Preferences is now called Settings and it's inline with iOS Settings. Hallelujah!!

  • Stage Manager is the new fancy dancy multitasking tool for you to stay focused on the task in front of them while seamlessly switching between apps and windows. Check out the screenshot below for what Stage Manager will look like on your Mac. Yikes! Hello confusion and questions for CKCC...which is a good thing. Bring it on!

  • Mail. New email search, schedule send and many more enhancements to our Apple Mail.

  • Messages. Same updates as iOS

  • Spotlight. Spotlight includes an updated design that makes navigation easier, new features that provide a more consistent experience across Apple devices, and Quick Look for quickly previewing files. Users can now find images in their photo library, across the system, and on the web.

  • THERE'S JUST SO MUCH MORE!! macOS 13 Ventura is chalk full of nuggets and delightful features! I bet even 1 out of every 5 will LIKE IT!! READ MORE about macOS 13 ventura HERE

⭐️ watchOS 9 ⭐️

All-around improvements to watchOS make the Apple Watch a major force in the fitness tracking game. New features include improved motion sensors to identify and track different types of physical movements, detailed sleep tracking (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....), and AFib and heart-rate monitoring.

⭐️ New MacBook Air ⭐️

The 2 new Macbook Airs are the first Macs to have the brand spankin new M2 chip, which is Apple's most powerful processor. The Air also has a redesigned body, larger screen, and weighs just 2.7 pounds.

⭐️ iPadOS 16 ⭐️

  • The new operating system for the iPad has all of the same new features as iOS 16 and macOS Ventura...including Stage Manager, except a new feature called...

  • Freeform. Real-time idea collaboration boards are not new, but Freeform is Apple’s take on the concept. It’s basically a big ole canvas that lets you drop almost anything onto it from PDFs, Notes, images, to audio, web links, and more–seeing them all in preview. Then you can add notes or draw anywhere with Apple Pencil support. Slick....very slick!

Jeez, it almost seems like Apple is tweaking their collective software and hardware to get us to buy their products again. Um...OK! I'm all in! Watch the recap of the WWDC 2022 keynote below. Don't forget, when IT confusion and frustration sets in you know who to call? Chuck King's Conscious Computing THAT'S WHO!
