"What the heck is this Meltdown and Spectre virus?"

This question has been asked to me multiple times over the past few days. Sigh. Turn off your TV news channel, and read websites that will give you the direct information you need. Websites, well, like this one! CKCC has you covered. I got you.

So the gist of it is this...you need to update and upgrade a bunch of your software. NOW

These types of high profile, high media, high drama announcements have been made over the years, haven't they? At least a couple of good ones a year, no?! Anyways, this one is different. Quite different. Amazing to think about actually but...let's not get too detailed and deep here.

So, companies are hustling to create, test, and apply patches for this issue.

Lily Hay Newman, a security writer/expert/guru/jedi whatever from Wired magazine says

some of the fixes don't solve everything.


Chuck, what the heck?! What do I do?! Update the following:

Desktop or Laptop Operating System (Mac, PC, Linux, ChromeOS). Run updates asap, reboot.

Web Browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.)

Mobile Devices (Android, iPhone, iPad, Tablets, etc)

Antivirus

Assess and fix your computer backup strategy.
